One cool summer morning, three vaporous figures appeared out of the Lake.
Deanne
The first, Deanne, reached down and scooped up a butterfly, protecting it in her hand. There is a Native American legend that says:
If you have a secret wish, capture a butterfly and whisper your wish to it. Since butterflies cannot speak, your secret is ever safe in their keeping.
Release the butterfly, and it will carry your wish to the Great Spirit, who alone knows the thoughts of butterflies. By setting the butterfly free, you are helping to restore the balance of nature, and your wish will surely be granted.
With wishes made and stories told, the butterfly was released to greet the morning, share butterfly kisses with the world and spread stories to everyone it touches.
Butterflies are free, free to come and go, free to spread their wings, know that I know, You'll come back to me, cause love like butterflies are free.
Maggie
The second took a seat on a lily pad. Sitting cross-legged, she beckoned the lake dwellers to come and join her for it was here she entertained her friends as she weaved many a tale of adventure.
From her vantage point sitting a top the lily pad, she could see the creatures below and the creatures above. She delighted in creating legends of love and passion and storing them in books to be opened by generations upon generations.
The lily pad so loved its new friends, it blossomed into a beautiful flower upon which the creatures of the pond could light to rest. The ducks came by each morning to greet lily pad as did the turtles, the cranes, the fishes and the otter. All were so enchanted by its beautiful blossom and the wondrous tales of adventure.
To this day, the lily pad remains as does the figure which arose from the lake to sit upon it.
Jordyn
The third, Jordyn, found a dragonfly as a companion, together they flew swiftly back and forth across lake, dipping their wings in the dark mystical waters. Seeking words to spin into stories, Jordyn beckoned the many colorful dragonflies to tell the tales that lived far beneath the shores of Leisure Lake.
Legends born at the beginning of time when the land was still hot from creation told the
history.
The newest fables of love, sorrow and joy swirled into yarns of romance and passion.
Even predictions of the future and dreams of far-away lands passed on as tales.
For days the stories weaved, to be sheltered in books to relay the many magical sagas of the
Lake.
Mornings greeted them with passive colors that reflected across the wave of rings floating
outward to the sandy beaches. The occupants of the Lake, the ducks, cranes and frogs welcome the day as only creatures of nature can. At day’s end, as the sun set against an indigo blue sky, the lake would fold in its banks and allow new stories to be born.
