We’re the Writers of the Lake and we’ll be filling you in on all the highs and lows of a writer’s world. We’ll tell you all about the secret handshake you need in order to become a published writer (just as soon as we figure it out) and we’ll let you in on the secrets of how to write when the family is pulling you in one direction, friends in another and the stress from work is so thick you could just scream.
The Lake
This is where we do our best writing. Creativity flows when we’re near water and there’s plenty of water at our beautiful, quiet lake. Here, we can get our ducks in a row as we create the kind of books you love to read.
Every morning, I get to sit in one of the blue chairs, drink my first cup of coffee for the day and watch the ducks as they swim, all in a row, from one side of the lake to the other. Eventually, Butterfly joins me and for just a moment, time stands perfectly still. The world is quiet except for the sounds of the ducks as they commune with each other. What a peaceful setting for writers.
We take a friend out for a spin.
Next, we take the pontoon boat out for our morning ride in the cool, crisp air of the day. With a studly muffin at the helm we can’t go wrong – or can we? Word to the wise here: always, always make sure the boat is cranked before you shove off. Otherwise you float out into the middle of the lake and have to be rescued. Especially if you don’t have any oars on board to paddle back to shore! But then, with a studly muffin on board, that's not all bad either!
We go once around the lake, sometimes twice, and then back to the house to get down to the business of writing.

We write all day. Ideas flow freely here. Sometimes other writers stop by for awhile. We'll gather, with our laptops of course, in one room and the ideas begin to flow. Someone says “I need a word that means …” and we try to come up with something that’s just perfect. Someone else wants a name for a new character or a cute name for a town. Words fly. Stories are born. Before you know it, we’ve got five, six, seven chapters or a whole new story written.
